25-30 fps with or without patch?
Cause 30 fps for such a powerful pc like yours, is a very low framerate. It should be at least 60. I mean, if you get this framerate with the new patch, then the patch doesnt fix much regarding performance.
I get round 40-50 FPS on the same settings (no vsync and no extreme range though) and virtually the same machine (740QM instead of 860QM) in Gothic 3. Their FPS is not that outlandishly small.
Also: sticky.

Can't wait. I hope the game will actually be playable.

Great news! I never played Forsaken Gods. But when the enhanced edition comes out I will go for it!

Ok but what about weaker systems? If in pc's like yours it is limited to 30 and 40, what will happen to them?
I still dont know if the guy was talking about framerate with the new patch.

In weaker systems, you don't play on 1080p resolution with anti-aliasing, HDR and 16x anisotropy at the same time.

First of all - the human eye doesn't make any difference between 30 and 120 frames per second. Any movement will be noticed as "smooth" at around 22 frames per second, +/- 2 frames.
In shooter games there might be a difference in the FPS, the higher the better, because people notice that you may aim better cause the mouse pointer updates more often as well. As Gothic is a different kind of game you'll barely need any of such high frame rates.
Secondly I was not saying I had 25-30 frames, but > 25-30 frames, which is a minimum. Depending on the load of the scene the game DOES reach values far beyond that.
Thirdly: I'm not saying that there is a huge or overwhelming increase in performance. With a low end machine from 2002 you'll still face some issues. Nevertheless, I'm just giving something to compare. With a capable system, you'll get very nice graphics and be able to actually play the game.

And we are no more April 1st this time, isn't ?

Nope, for that date we're already preparing the message of a Gothic 1 remake.

great news! i had feeling long time ago that you will take this and repair it, you guys are awesome! bring the dull game a new light! now FG will be good! after your work i adore you people! and good luck in the future. and yeah one more thing i have a feeling that one day you may also help gothic 4 and make it a masterpiece? cause now as we played it, it sucked even worse than FG although the (gameplay) is fun in arcania. so who knows maybe you will give it a new living.

This reminds me of an old joke that goes something like this:
The americans steal a plan of a russian plane.
They then gather an american team and try to rebuild the plane using the plans.
They work hard, weld, stick parts together and finally they get a tractor.
The council board is unhappy and hires a team of japanese.
These also broke their backs working, weld, stick, assamble the parts and after superhuman efforts they finally get a tractor.
The council is desperate and hires a group of romanians. They begin to work, start welding, sticking, assemble parts and finally they get a plane.
Council: Unbelievable ! How did you do it ?
Romanians: Well at first we also got a tractor, but then we polished it with a hand file.
P.S. Is much more funnier in romanian version

This is awesome news!
I loved Gothic3 (with patches), and it sounds like G4 is a completely different kind of game, which makes me even more excited about being able to play "G3: Forsaken Gods" in full potensial. Awesome!
I have the Gothic 3: Gold edition (G3 + Forsaken Gods + patch). Are there any patches after the one included there that will make FG more playable?
Um.. and what does Q4 2010 mean... ? *blush*
Cheers!

Pardon me but I saw a great difference when I was playing Dragon Age at 27 frames with my old pc and when I was playing at 70 with my new one. Same thing with DOW 2 Chaos Rising.
My new pc is a Phenom II X4 3.4Ghz, 3GB Ram and a Radeon HD5670 1GB DDR5.
Of course I dont expect FG to run at 60 fps. At least, will the framerate be as smooth as in Gothic 3 with the 1.74 patch? In Gothic 3 with all settings maxed I get a very high framerate with no stuttering or lags.
BTW, are we going to get the patch before December?
