You know, its quite hard to amaze people with clips of correct translations, fixed dialogs, corrected daily routines, reworked dialog order, crash fixes and such, because those show things as they should be, not how they've been improved.
For trailers and screenshots, there unfortunately is hardly another thing to show than audiovisual impressions, may it be improved textures, added effects, corrected models or added sounds and so on.
But finally its absolutely impossible to assume that we'll only or mainly have an eye on graphics with that patch based on such trailers you saw. It's a part of the patch, that's true, but it's not the the exclusive improvement.

I bet FG was a gold mine of bugs to be fixed, to be sure.

CPT can make a lot of money from this.

CPT can make a lot of money from this.
...only if in two months time JoWood will have the money to pay them... I guess
Everything is relative... until it bites.

Unless they -in a sort of mysterious way- get the rights of the title

I can't wait to see the patch, so far sounds good! Good work there!

Because JoWooD is the game publisher, not the game developer. Unfortunately 'Forsaken Gods' developers from Trine Game Studios have appeared aren't capable to fix all errors of their child. Therefore addon bug fixing has got to guys from the Gothic 3 Community Patch Team which for some years have managed to make buggy original Gothic 3 to a quite playable state.

No news, we're still working on it.

News for you!
We're a quite stingy with new information, but don't want to keep good news for us. Today it's about the well known micro stuttering.
What is this micro stuttering?
Many people reported that their game stops from time to time for about 1 second. That's annoying and destroys the atmosphere.
Which bloody software deamon is causing those?
In general this stuttering is related to the world streaming. While playing the game and walking through the world, several pieces are dynamically loaded in such as NPCs or the environment. Also graphic effects such as textures or materials, in this case just called "Shaders", are being compiled.
The longer I play, the less stuttering there is!
That's true! Shaders are reused on different object. So if a shader has been compiled once, it does not need to be compiled again for that certain object but is available in the memory and might be accessed, which saves computing time and stuttering. Unfortunately, those shaders will only last for the current session.
Now the good part!
With the new patch all compiled shaders will be stored locally on your computer, which means they are available anytime. The result is a heavy and noticable decrease of micro stuttering!
There are some preconditions or better some pieces of info you should know of:
- Of course every shader still needs to be compiled once. In case a shader which is needed is not yet compiled (e.g. when you start the game the first time) you will still notice the stuttering once as the compiled shader needs to be created.
- If shaders are already compiled they may now be directly accessed and not cause stuttering - that's also the case after a game restart!
- From time to time you will still notice some stuttering since there are other objects which are loaded in as stated above.
- Changing any of the graphic settings in the game options will need new shaders to be compiled, rendering those useless which have already been compiled. That means that you will again experience some stuttering as these shaders will now need to be recompiled instead of simply accessed.
Prepared with this new information there's only one thing left: patiently wait for the final version.
Cheers!

Prepared with this new information there's only one thing left:
...apply this to vanilla Gothic 3!

...apply this to vanilla Gothic 3!
YES please!
Great work people!
-
I'm agreed with Tratos because in Gothic 3 vanilla (even with the CP 1.74) all shaders has been stored in non-compiled format (*.fx) in the Materials.pak. Therefore I hope that you will make a same fix for the Gothic 3 Enhanced Edition too.
-
Since creating shaders, etc. causes stuttering, why not go the extra installed game size with everything already created. Then a game would be unrivalled in playability. Oh, but wait.... that means the developers would have to play the game, doing everything possible. I imagine in that case, the game would never be released
